Parking Enforcement in north Seattle
Example of junk vehicles being 'stored' on public streets in North Seattle.
Sunday, April 1st, 2007 (photo taken from the soccer field). Notice the Orange ticket on the driver's side of the windshield of the Ford Pickup full of trash. The ticket is applied with adhesive by the police after someone called in the vehicle to the 'abandoned vehicle hotline. ![]() Saturday, April 7th, 2007 one week later. Here's a picture from the exact same angle. You'll notice that the same Ford pickup full of trash has not been moved, but the orange parking notice has been removed. This is a situation that is repeated over and over and over again. Much to the frustration of the people and businesses in the neighborhood. Also note that an additional motor home has appeared and the other 2 have not yet been moved. ![]() Saturday, April 14th. Same Ford full of trash is exactly the same spot. Looks like another orange parking notice on the windsheild, but I'll bet that disappears in next weeks photo, and the truck will still be there. Notice also the motorhomes that have not moved in 3 weeks of photos now. I'll be calling them in today, and let's see how long the city lets them stay. This is a situation that is repeated over and over and over again. Much to the frustration of the people and businesses in the neighborhood. ![]() Saturday, April 21st. Check it out...you think the Ford full of trash is gone in this picture. (note that the motorhome that has been there over 8 months is still there, and the door is open to the sidewalk this morning). However, maybe the city finally towed that truck full of trash away? You'd be mistaken if you think that. Look at this next picture, and you'll see that someone just towed it around the corner onto Stone.
I saw them out there hooking up for towing, and knew that it would just move around the corner. Here's where it will stay until they take it back to N 131st. Seattle City streets by Ingraham High School are being used as FREE parking lots and FREE RV parks for people to live (there have been people living in those vehicles parked behind the truck for over 2 years and running). Why is there even a law on the books about parking if the city will not enforce it I ask? Why should Mayor Nickels care if people have peeling paint on their home if he refuses to deal with the situation on the city street? What about the motorhomes though? There were more motorhomes in last weeks picture N 131st that aren't there now...where did they go? There just 50 feet away, around the corner on Stone. There still just one block from Ingraham high school, and they are all still parked on the walking route from the school to the grocery store. Here's the picture:
You'll notice, if you look hard, that there is a large flatbed truck parked among this motorhome caravan. This truck has no window as far as I can tell, and even the windshield has been smashed out. Obvviously abandoned here, where I'm sure it will sit for weeks if not months. |
